King County to conduct observer training

Election officials will conduct a two hour class for people interested in observing the elections process Monday, October 23 at 6 p.m.  Observers play a key role in ensuring the electoral process is transparent and accountable.

The political parties provide official party observers to oversee election activities.  However, the process is open to public observation as well starting on Election Day, November 7 and running through result certification on November 28, 2006.

The vast majority of ballots for the General Election will be absentee ballots cast through the mail and processed at King County Elections’ Temporary Elections Annex located next to Boeing Field at 9010 E. Marginal Way in Tukwila.  Observer training will be also take place at the Temporary Elections Annex.

To ensure adequate space is provided, those planning to attend are asked to call 206-296-1565 to sign up for the training.
