Ballot Counting Wraps Seventh Night

Sept. 26, 2006 – SEATTLE – Today King County Election staff counted an additional 10,695 absentee ballots from the 2006 primary.

"Ballot processing and tabulation will continue in the next three days leading up to certification and include mail ballots postmarked on election day and valid provisional ballots cast last Tuesday," said Jim Buck, Interim Director of Records, Elections and Licensing Services.

Election results will be certified at 4:30 p.m. Friday, Sept.29 and the Canvassing Board will announce any races which require mandatory machine or manual recounts. A recount for a ballot measure or issue can be made by a group of five or more registered voters one of whom must be designated group chairperson.

King County staff will count ballots the rest of this week and post results online each night at 7 p.m. at http://your.kingcounty.gov/elections/200609/results.asp.
