"This primary gives us another chance to improve upon King County’s nationally recognized best practices in mail ballot reconciliation,” said Jim Buck, Interim Director of Records, Elections and Licensing Services. “In the remaining four days of tabulation staff will continue to process incoming mail ballots, canvass the polls, and verify and count provisional ballots cast last Tuesday."
Election results will be certified on Friday and the Canvassing Board will announce any races which require mandatory machine or manual recounts. A recount for a ballot measure or issue can be made by a group of five or more registered voters one of whom must be designated group chairperson.
A request for a recount must be submitted to the Canvassing Board within three working days of certification. The following costs are deposits only and the party requesting the recount must pay for all costs associated with the recount. If the recount changes the results, the requesting party does not have to pay the costs of the recount. The requestor must pay as follows:
