![]() Feb. 23, 2006 March special election ballots in the mailRegistration deadline Monday, Feb.27Absentee voters in the Highline and Vashon Island school districts and the Vashon-Maury Parks and Recreation District will receive ballots in the mail this week for the upcoming March 14 special election. Election officials predict a 35.8 percent turnout in the special election based on historical trends and estimate more than 80 percent of the total ballots cast will come through the mail. For eligible citizens in the participating districts, King County Elections is extending its office hours to register voters. The Elections' office in downtown Seattle office will be open Saturday, Feb.25 from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. Monday, Feb. 27 is the last day to register to vote in person. In addition to the extended Saturday office hours, election officials will offer in-person registration this Saturday, Feb. 25 at Bellevue Square on the second floor between the Aveda and Johnston & Murphy stores from noon to 5 p.m. and again on Sunday, Feb. 26 at the Westfield Southcenter Mall between JC Penny and Fred Meyer Jewelers from noon to 5 p.m. Current election statistics**:
