King County to conduct observer training
Election officials will conduct a 90 minute class for people interested in observing the elections process. Observers play a key role in ensuring the electoral process is transparent and accountable. The political parties provide official party observers to oversee election activities, but the process is open to public observation as well.
The vast majority of ballots for Tuesday's primary will be cast through the mail by absentee ballots and processed at King County Elections' Mail Ballot Operations Satellite. Of the county's more than 289,000 active poll voters, election officials predict those who go to the polls will only represent about 7 percent of the county's total registered voter population -- and roughly 24 percent of the overall primary turnout.
Observer training will be held in the King County Administration Building Monday, September 19 at 5:30 p.m. in Room 710. Observation opportunities are available on Election Day through certification on September 30.
To ensure adequate space is provided, those planning to attend are asked to call (206) 296-1565 to sign up for the training.
