Logan issues statement on court's ruling not to stop the recount process

Federal District Court Judge Marsha Pechman today denied the Republican Party's attempt to stop King County from recounting some ballots.

"We were confident all along that we were acting in accordance with State Law and were pleased the judge acted quickly and without delay to the recount," said Dean Logan, director of King County Records and Election Services. "Our focus is to count every ballot accurately."

Early in the recount process, the Republican Party asked King County to stop duplicating and enhancing ballots. Washington Administrative Code (WAC 434-261-080 and 434-261-090) instructs all counties to enhance or duplicate ballots rejected where votes are unreadable to ensure that the ballot can be accurately counted.
