Provisional ballots

General Election - November 3, 2009

Verify your provisional ballot

A provisional ballot is cast by a voter whose name does not appear on our list of registered voters or who did not provide proper identification at an accessible voting center. Provisional ballots are processed after election officials verify the voter is eligible to cast a ballot, a labor-intensive process which generally takes between five and nine days to complete. Once verified, the ballot is added to the official count.

This provisional ballot lookup allows voters to check the status of their ballot the Monday after the election until the election is certified. Certification occurs 15 days after a primary or special election and 21 days after the general election. For more information, call 206-296-VOTE (8683) or e-mail voter.services@kingcounty.gov.

To verify the status of your provisional ballot, enter the 8-digit reference number located on your provisional ballot envelope stub.
