Pam (Gates), parent of Ariane and Jake, has been an Island resident for 29 years. Employed by Vashon School District for fifteen years, she is currently a middle school administrator. Her background with Vashon youth organizations includes ten years as a 4-H leader, five years organizer/board member of Vashon Island Soccer Club, four years Vashon Vultures Lacrosse Club volunteer, and four years McMurray Middle School Assistant Athletic Director. She is one of the original organizers of Paradise Ridge equestrian facility and is a park steward.

FISCAL RESPONSIBILTY. With increasing revenues and property holdings, it is imperative that solid fiscal procedures be implemented and followed. Pam's background in school budgeting/finance will allow her to provide insight and sound fiscal oversight to find a balance in implementing budgetary policies and procedures. YOUTH SPORTS ADVOCACY. Pam's involvement with youth sports will attest to her commitment to creating and maintaining opportunities for Island youth.

My husband and I were drawn to Vashon-Maury Island as a place to retire by the scenic beauty, atmosphere and character of the island. The park system plays an important role in retaining these characteristics. My fifteen years as an administrator has given me the experience and expertise to be fiscally responsible, use negotiating skills and reach consensus on issues. Using the new master plan as a guide and input from residents, I will work to develop and preserve recreational resources and to protect the natural qualities of our island. I would appreciate your support.
