CANDIDATE FILING PERIOD

KING COUNTY DRAINAGE DISTRICT NO. 1
COMMISSIONER POSITIONS NO. 2 AND 3
KING COUNTY DRAINAGE DISTRICT NO. 2
COMMISSIONER POSITIONS NO. 1, 2 AND 3

In accordance with the provisions of RCW 85.38.070 and .120, King County Elections announces there will be an election on February 7, 2006 for King County Drainage District No. 1, Position No. 2 and 3, and also King County Drainage District No. 2 Positions 1, 2 and 3. For King County Drainage District No. 1, Position No. 2 will be for a full six-year term, Position No. 3 will be for an unexpired four-year term. For King County Drainage District No. 2, as the statue calls for staggered terms, the highest vote-getter is elected to a six-year term, the next highest to a four-year term, and the third to a two-year term. In the event that the candidates are unopposed, Position No. 1 is for a six-year term, Position No. 2 for a four-year term, and Position No. 3 for a two-year term.

A filing period for candidates for these offices will be held commencing January 4th through 6th during the hours of 8:30am to 4:30pm.

Declarations of Candidacy forms may be obtained through the Elections Office and must be returned in person or by mail through the dates above. No filing fee is charged. Declarations filed by mail must be in the Elections office by 4:30pm, Friday, January 6, 2006. Post marks do not satisfy this requirement. If you file by mail your declaration of candidacy must be notarized.

The qualified and elected commissioner shall serve for terms specified above, commencing immediately after the election is certified and shall hold office until his or her successor is elected, qualified and assumes office.
