 King County Local Voters Pamphlet
Metropolitan King County
COUNCIL DISTRICT NO. 12, 4 YR TERM
Candidates:
Brian Derdowski Democrat |
We have a lot of work to do at King
County. . We need a "homestead" exemption for homeowner property tax
relief. . We need real reform in King County government, which includes
the right of the people to change the County Charter by Initiative. . We need
to control land developers to ensure that their developments do not ruin our
neighborhoods' services, quality of life, and environment. . We need to protect
family wage jobs, and promote our economy without wasteful, unfair corporate
subsidies. . We need to solve existing traffic congestion. Transit options that
do not interfere with automobile traffic, such as monorail, should be added to
the mix of transportation choices.
As your King County Councilmember, I
will work to ensure that your local government doesn't add to your daily
challenges! I will restore high quality, accessible representation. We will
reduce the extreme partisanship that has robbed you of your voice on the King
County Council.
Brian Derdowski proudly served you
as your County Councilman from 1990-2000. He has a solid record with the
experience and knowledge of the issues to represent you well.

David W. Irons Republican |
It has been an honor for me to serve the 12th
Council District since 2000. After years of talking about the problems in our
communities, we finally have been able to deliver some solutions.
Transportation still is the top issue by far. Here
is some good news: . North SPAR and Sunset interchange open Aug. 29 . Interim
lot of the Issaquah Highlands park-and-ride opens in September . Regional
Transportation Investment District is working toward a package of
congestion-relieving projects in three counties . A coalition is working toward
a Highway 169 corridor study.
Growth management and environmental issues also
have benefited from my work on the May Creek Basin Plan, the Three Forks Natural
Area, the Fall City Subarea Plan and the Fall City Historic Preservation plan,
among others.
I'm also focusing on government accountability and
saving money with a proposal to allow biennial budgeting and a charter
amendment to reduce the size of the Council from 13 to 9 members. I bring my
private sector business experience to the council to improve efficiency. I ask
for your support of my re-election. |
