  I have been Mayor of Algona since 1992, after being a City Councilperson for eleven years prior to that. I retired from the US Army in 1978 and moved my family to Algona. When I became Mayor, the city was heavy in debt. Algona has managed to operate in the black for several years. The city is able to maintain the Infrastructure without going in debt to do it. We have an excellent staff in City Hall, as well as Utility Department and Police Department, have been blessed with good citizens to volunteer their time to serve the community on the different citizen committees and in doing so, able to do their part in keeping Algona a good place to live and raise your families.

  I once again ask that you keep your trust in me and retain me as your Mayor.

I have served on the city council since 2001. I am thorough, resourceful, outspoken and reliable. I take my responsibilities seriously and I get things done. I walk my talk!

My goals include: Making our city government more open, accountable, responsive and representative; Creating an official mailed publication and web site that keeps residents informed; Providing advance notice and opportunities for input on all the issues that will affect your quality of life and property values; Protecting our small town ambiance; Creating positive, healthy activities for our youth; Setting goals based on the resident's wishes for Algona's future; Providing the citizens with progress reports on our accomplishments; Giving residents more control over how your money is spent and making sure the citizen's priorities come first!
