  Experience, commitment, communication. These are the three primary values I bring to this position. I have spent 6 years representing you on the Council previously including two as Mayor and two as Deputy Mayor. Prior to that I was Chairman of the Newcastle Planning Commission. This experience is especially important at a time when the current council is reducing revenues, reducing services, and watching massive cost overruns on our largest public works project, Coal Creek Parkway. I am committed to our City, to representing you without regard to personal gain, to telling the citizens exactly what is happening with tax dollars and what we can do to maintain our quality of life. I pledge to always listen, to always make decisions based on what is best for the citizens and not for individual friends or business associates, and to foster strong and honest communication between the City and its citizens.

  Education/Occupation: Law Degree, Stanford Law School; Sloan Executive Fellow, Stanford Graduate School of Business; Attorney.

  Following my selection last year by the City Council, I've had the pleasure of serving you on the Council. I'm now running for a full-term to help oversee the many exciting community projects now planned for the City.

  In the current economy, the most important issue facing cities is the maintenance of their financial health. Newcastle must avoid the financial difficulties now facing many cities by carefully controlling the cost of City government and by resisting overexpansion of City services. With good fiscal management, I'm confident of our City's future.

  Currently, I serve on the Council's Finance Committee and am a former Chair of the Planning Commission. My experience includes an extensive background in management, law and government. My wife, Gayle, and I have two grown children, a son and a daughter.
