CITY OF MILTON COUNCIL POS. NO. 03, 4 YR TERM :
Milton
LOFLIN

|
I have lived in the City of Milton for 38 years and have been active in community affairs. I am a former member and chairman of the Library Board; former two time member and chairman of the Civil Service Commission; current member of the Planning Commission; current member of the Arts Commission; and current member of the Park Board. I also have been attending city council meetings for years, including planning and budget retreats, study sessions, and committee meetings. I am well prepared to serve on the city council and well prepared to represent the interests of citizens. If chosen by the voters I pledge to attend regularly and to emphasize services to the citizens. Among the current issues before the council, I am opposed to putting city buildings in Triangle Park and opposed to paying thousands for a consultant to analyze City needs. Thank you for your consideration.

Education: Fife High School (1948); U.P.S. (1949-1950) Dale Carnegie Institute graduate.
Occupation: Former owner/manager retail heating oil, appliance, TV sales and service (1950-1986).
Professional Qualifications: President, Tacoma Fuel Dealers Association; Vice President, Oil Heat Institute of Washington; Chairman, Milton Board of Adjustments.
Personal Information: Fife native, Milton resident since 1958. Married: wife, Laura, (51 years) three children, two grandchildren.
Community Involvement: Fife-Milton Active Club, Eagles, Elks, YMBC.
Personal Views: As a citizen, I studied the Milton Water Department's annual budget. Water rates were ninth highest in Washington State. Cash reserves were triple the annual operating costs. I forcefully brought these facts to the mayor and subsequently to the city council. The water rates were lowered 29% in September 2000. The water rate reduction saved ratepayers over $250,000 annually. Continual and thoughtful study of all budgetary items will result in Milton citizens getting the most from their tax dollars.
