Democrat
Julia Patterson knows our community, and cares deeply about it. Julia comes from four generations of Washingtonians, involved in and committed to our South End community. She continues this tradition by raising her family here, serving us in the state legislature, and volunteering in our schools.
Senator Julia Patterson is a compassionate and effective leader. As Chair of the Senate Local Government Committee, she sponsored growth management legislation that protects our environment and limits urban sprawl. Julia's hard-working style resulted in legislation that will lower class sizes for our children.
Julia is running for the King County Council because she knows that our community needs strong County leadership. She will work to reduce traffic congestion by forging a transportation plan that builds new roads, establishes better suburban bus service and extends rail service. She will fight to insure that 100% of the transportation revenue raised in our County is invested here!
It's time to bring Julia Patterson's hard working-style home to local government. As the Tacoma News Tribune once said, "…her roots in the district are so deep they hit bedrock."

Remember the old quotation - "nothing is certain in this world except death and taxes?" As your incumbent District 13 County Councilman I promise never to vote for a tax increase that exceeds the desires of you, the voters (the only exception would be when public health and safety are at risk).
When I was appointed in March to the County Council, I became Chair of the Regional Transit Committee. It was immediately apparent that the suburbs (District 13) had not received their fair share of transit hours (bus service) for years. For example, for every dollar that we get, Seattle gets about $1.60. What's fair about that? It's time we receive the service that we are paying for! I will fight to make sure District 13 has increased bus service as soon as possible.
As a lifelong resident of this district (55 years), I have a vested interest in protecting the quality of life for our families and businesses. If you believe in fiscal responsibility in managing your tax dollars as I do, elect me to the County Council.
When you vote remember, "You get more with Les."

Republican
I am running for the Metro King County Council because I want to improve traffic congestion, secure public safety and control property taxes.
As a State Senator representing South King County for eleven years, I have a reputation as a tough fighter for our area - a person willing to stand up to special interests.
Roach Gets Results
I am proud to be the prime sponsor of the juvenile justice bill that was signed into law in 1997. With bipartisan support, I helped push through tougher drunk driving laws. I have been endorsed by the King County Police Union because I believe women and seniors should feel safe in their own homes.
Roach Protects Our Freedoms
When the county banned the building of churches outside urban growth boundaries, I helped religious groups who wanted to protect their constitutional freedoms. When I talk to Catholics, LDS, local rabbis and pastors and find they are all opposed, I know the County is on the wrong track.
Roach Is The Republican Choice
Endorsements for Pam Roach include noted Republican, John Carlson, and Puget Sound Republicans, as well as the Washington Taxpayers Association. I would appreciate your support.
