Our youth are our greatest asset. How we help them today speaks volumes about the strength of our nation in the future. We must change the way we teach and provide education. Schools, parents and students working together will enable every child to succeed. Schools should be safe and healthy learning environments. Parents must become actively involved in their child's daily progress. Students need to be held responsible for their educational progress. We must encourage their growth by requiring reasonable unchanging standards. Over the next few years, the District faces many challenges such as median test scores, disgruntled teachers, dwindling State funding and achievement disparity between ethnic groups. I do not suggest having all the answers, but I promise to listen to the needs of students, teachers and parents and hold the District to a responsible fiscal course. Let's work together…that's how it's supposed to be. Thank you.

If elected I will work hard for you.
I have a goal to focus on the customers of the board - the students, parents and voters of our community. The school board must serve the public. By providing public access to the school board via public television and detailed board meeting notes online we can change how this district works and serves the community.
Supporting all students with resources to meet state mandated skills is job number one. I am participating on the Equity and Achievement taskforce to better meet this need.
I believe that the city and school district should work together to ensure growth that can be supported without overcrowding our schools. I participate in school board and city politics. I am a PTA past president for two years at Enterprise Elementary. I have been in the business community for seven years as a retail manager and consultant.

As a Federal Way resident for the past 18 years with 2 daughters in the public schools, I am committed to ensuring that every student is provided a solid educational foundation. I support the district's initiative of "Every Child a Reader" but believe additional emphasis is needed in our math, science and writing programs.
I have served on advisory and budget committees, leadership teams and chaired the district's facilities committee. I have a Business degree from the University of Washington and have worked as a Business Manager at The Boeing Company for the past 23 years. My education, work experience and financial skills will enable me to add value to the district's fiscal management process. I am committed to holding tax rates down and making wise spending choices.
I look forward to serving you on the Federal Way School Board and would appreciate your vote. Thank you.
