List of Candidates for
CITY OF COVINGTON COUNCIL POS. NO. 02 :

Robert L.
MILLARD

Covington is our home. Having attended and graduated from Kent Schools and a native of this area, Covington is where we have chosen to raise our family. We have a vested interest in creating and maintaining a safe and economically viable community for our children.

I believe my common-sense management style, coupled with my business experience will assist me well on Covington's City Council.

My education, background and experience in financial planning, in budgeting and in real estate will serve me well as we seek to maintain a safe community that provides essential services to all residents without unduly burdening the taxpayers. I believe I can positively approach community concerns by eliminating waste, simplifying processes, and reaching practical and sensible solutions.

I believe Government, including city government, should provide greater fiscal and moral accountability to its citizens. I pledge to the citizens of Covington that I will uphold these requirements.

I want to ensure that our city of Covington has a strong Police force, clean parks, and plenty of recreational programs available for our children. I feel strongly about this and will stress these needs for the health and welfare of our future - the children of our community. I believe in the importance and need to meet Washington State requirements for low-income housing. We should provide housing for senior citizens near the hospital rather than build multiple apartment buildings creating congestion and the possibility for crime.

My livelihood is retail sales. Because of my experience, I recognize that business is an important and crucial contribution to a well-balanced city. We must provide and recognize locally respected businesses for our community members. We need to ensure that our roads and parks are maintained to assure our neighborhoods safety. I am from the people, for the people, and with the people.

LANZA

As your elected representative I will take the time to listen to your concerns and views, and restore validity to our process of public participation. I will develop and maintain a respectful partnership between the developers and the people of this community. I will work diligently to ensure that growth is balanced between cultivating a viable business community and the needs and wishes of our citizens. I support enhancing the quality of life by acquiring parks, creating recreational facilities, and building a community center as a community focal point. I opposed the recent property tax increase adopted by the current city council and believe that we must do a better job in prioritizing taxpayer dollars.

I will ensure that our growth remains true to the vision that we have for our community. An economically viable, family oriented community that retains its small town character.

Thank you for your support.
