George A. Smith

George Smith and wife Dee, 35-year Islanders, built their own
home, raised two boys, and active Islanders for three decades. George holds BS,
Landscape Architecture; MRP, Urban Planning; JD, Seattle University, Law.
Authored Island’s Comprehensive Plan, business district
design, capital improvements plan, I-90 access and street plan, City/Town
consolidation. Inaugural design commission chair. 1972-1985. President, major
real estate investment company. 1985-1995. Self-employed investor/manager, real
properties. 1995-present. Island practicing attorney.
Island activities: Chair, city hall location committee;
co-chair, shorelines plan revision; principal critic, Island tree ordinances.
Coach, boys club football and soccer. Trustee, MI Congregational Church.
Platform issues: 1) Accountability - Open government; 2) I-90
- preserve Island access; 3) Regulations - balance property rights with
environment concerns; 4) Business District development - encourage vibrant
downtown; 5) Taxes - justified taxation only.
Assets: commitment, business experience, plain-speaking
communicator.

Jim Pearman
|
|
Jim Pearman is a proven community leader on Mercer Island as
well as the entire Eastside. He has worked tirelessly to preserve and protect
our unique environment on Mercer Island. Jim started a successful enterprise and
also professionally promotes businesses as President of the East King County
Convention and Visitors Bureau.
Jim grew up on Mercer Island, attending local schools, as is
his 7-year-old daughter now.
Over the past 25 years Jim has served Mercer Island. Jim was
on the Committee to Preserve Pioneer Park, twice chaired the Park and Recreation
Advisory Board, was President of MI Parks and Recreation Foundation, continues
as Trustee for the MI Bicentennial and Tyler Cox High School Awards, was
Treasurer for the MI Foundation, and Co-Chaired MI Community Center Ad-hoc Task
Force.
Jim Pearman’s record reflects his belief that through public
service, and public and private partnerships we can enhance and enrich our
community.
