I will continue pursuing projects started during my first two
years on the Council: • reducing taxes - in 2002, we will have the first tax
DECREASE in modern times; • successfully fending off increased airplane
overflights; • leading the effort to promote dual use public/private school and
recreation facilities; • creating parking at the North end for use only by
Islander commuters; • keeping mega houses from destroying the character of our
neighborhoods; • adding public open space and increasing funding for City parks
and tree maintenance; • creating an expanded shoulder for bicyclists and
pedestrians on East/West/North Mercer Ways; • first proponent of expanded City
website to facilitate online services.
Endorsements: County Councilmember Rob McKenna; Port
Commissioners Paige Miller and Clare Nordquist; City Councilmembers Alan Merkle,
Bryan Cairns, Sven Goldmanis and El Jahncke; together with John Nelson,
Marguerite Sutherland and Boyd Vander Houwen. Thank you for your support.

It is my honor to put my name as candidate for this position.
As a 38 year resident of the Island, I am recently retired as a partner in a
successful business. During my career, it was necessary to listen, make good
common sense choices, mediate, work with large sums of money, and solve
difficult problems. I have served on community boards, commissions and
professional organizations on the Island. I come willing and ready to listen to
the community and to work with council members and other leaders for the
betterment of Mercer Island. I believe I can relate and listen to the heartbeat
of the community. Hopefully you will entrust this position to me. I plan to be a
RESPONSIVE, FISCALLY RESPONSIBLE, COMMON SENSE, and PRODUCTIVE MEMBER.
