List of Candidates for
CITY OF SAMMAMISH COUNCIL POS. NO. 07, 4 YR TERM

Ron Haworth

It has been an honor to work for you in the city of Sammamish. Together we have made great strides in addressing the problems that spurred the incorporation effort. We have: • Lowered the tax rate • Improved road maintenance services • Rapidly implemented critically needed new road projects • Constructed new sidewalks near schools • Purchased land for parks and other community facilities • Restricted growth by implementing a moratorium • Made great progress developing a new Comprehensive Plan, for our future • Simultaneously improved Fire and EMS while saving taxpayers over 1 million dollars.

We have accomplished much, but the job is not finished. I want to ensure our city remains a desirable place to live. I have served as a Director for Eastside Fire and Rescue and Public Safety Chairman. Please support me in my efforts to use our limited resources wisely to address our top priorities while building a solid foundation for our city.

Michael A. Friedman

A four-year resident of Sammamish, I am anxious to lend my talents to encouraging increased public participation in city government and to creating both short- and long-term transportation solutions--we don’t need band-aids, we need a full scale, head-on, pull-no-punches attack on our transportation needs. I have experience with mass transit, hold a PhD in computer science, taught at UCLA and UW, authored textbooks, and patented inventions for the fastest selling product in the history of consumer electronics. Locally, I have managed projects and led teams at Microsoft.

It’s time to listen to all our citizens and build a unifying community spirit. It’s time to develop trust and respect between residents and government and between Sammamish and our neighboring cities. My leadership and technical skills are extensive and I am enthused about putting them to work for our city. I will welcome your vote on November 6.
