PORT OF SEATTLE COMMISSIONER POS. NO. 04, 4 YR TERM

Pat Davis

    As an active port commissioner, I would appreciate the opportunity to continue serving your interests.

    During my service to the people of King County, I have worked hard to expand trade opportunities for Puget Sound. Trade generates family-wage jobs, business revenues, a healthy environment and a robust economy.

    My main goal has been to make the Port of Seattle more competitive. Currently Long Beach, Oakland, Vancouver B.C. and other West Coast ports are modernizing their facilities. We must intensify our efforts to keep jobs here.

    To accomplish this, I have five primary goals:

    • protecting and enhancing our maritime industrial base and marine environment, and implementing our new harbor development strategy;

    • modernizing and expanding Sea-Tac airport, to make it more user-friendly and efficient, including completion of the third runway;

    • relieving traffic congestion through freight mobility projects that separate roads from rail crossings;

    • continuing development of the local cruise ship industry and advancing the port’s e-business initiative;

    • strengthening our relationships with local communities, citizen and environmental groups, labor unions, our trading partners and our customers.

    The port’s activities are for and about people. I am proud of the educational and workforce preparedness programs we have developed over the years. Our apprenticeship, intern, disadvantaged youth and schools programs are educating hundreds of new workers and opening doors for our children. PortJobs and AirportJobs have been particularly successful. Creating opportunities for the next generation is particularly important to me.

    I have worked closely with and enjoy the support of many labor, business and community groups. I have a record of direct engagement, openness and integrity, and a reputation for making necessary and important decisions.

    I would sincerely appreciate your vote in this election.

Christopher R. Cain

    The Accountability Committee to Elect Christopher Cain is waging an all out grass roots campaign to restore the people’s voice to the Port of Seattle. And we need your help.

    Let’s face it, The Port of Seattle is out of control. Despite escalating costs, overwhelming public opposition and ongoing environmental degradation, the Port of Seattle continues to construct a third runway – without the required permits! What’s more, the Port of Seattle is the only port on the West Coast that directly taxes working families to subsidize their projects. Taxpayers are financing programs they don’t want.

    As a small business owner, father, and lifelong resident of King County, I want to restore accountability to an elected body that is out of control. This is our community and our home. Elected officials should act in our interest, not contrary to it. Together we can restore the Port of Seattle into a public asset, instead of a public liability.

    If you endorse accountability, fairness and mutual respect then we can start work towards our goals together. There are indeed many challenges that face us every day that require strong leadership. Together we can overcome them. We can have a voice when we need one. Not just one voice… but a collective voice. A powerful voice… one that commands respect and offers it in return. If you will endorse my campaign: I will work to assure accountability and respect is forthcoming, I will continue to educate myself and speak publicly on issues that affect working men and women from all sectors of our community. I will work to restore credibility for real working people with real lives and real needs.

    My campaign is about restoring accountability, fairness and mutual respect to the Port of Seattle.
