November 7, 2000 General Election North Highline Fire Dist. No. 11 - Proposition No. 1
PROPOSITION NO.1 The Board of Fire Commissioners of North Highline Fire District No. 11 passed Resolution No. 355 concerning this proposition to provide funds to construct capital improvements to two existing fire stations and acquire fire fighting equipment and apparatus. This proposition would authorize North Highline Fire District No. 11 to issue general obligation bonds in the principal amount of $2,100,000, maturing within a maximum term of 12 years and shall authorize annual property tax levies in excess of regular property tax levies to repay such bonds, as described in Resolution No. 355.
Should this proposition be:
North Highline Fire District No. 11, King County, Washington, seeks voter approval of a bond issue in the amount of $2,100,000 to pay the costs of constructing and installing capital improvements to two of its existing fire stations and acquiring new equipment and apparatus. The bonds will be issued over a 12-year period. The bonds will mature within a maximum term of 12 years and will be repaid from annual tax levies in excess of regular tax levies.
Your family, friends, neighbors, and business community are voting YES for Proposition 1 because they know a well-maintained and well-equipped fire department means continued quality emergency services for all of us. It's been 34 years since the North Highline Fire Department asked voters to approve a bond. It's time to take action. Our older fire engines are becoming a safety problem and it's harder to maintain them at reasonable costs. Firefighters also need up-to-date and reliable equipment so they aren't left in the cold. They need new breathing apparatuses and a thermal-imaging camera that will help them determine the location of citizens and fire in a burning structure. Proposition 1 is a bargain! You will only pay $19.00 a year if you own a $100,000 home. This will buy two new fire engines, a ladder truck, an aid car, hoses, plus more. It is money well-spent and will raise a total of $2.1 million. Whether it's a house fire, car accident, or heart attack, firefighters are always there for us. They do their job, let's do ours.
