How to Search

The Hearing Examiner's Case Digest searchable database has been designed so it can be searched by report date or by other relevant search terms (keywords). Useful search terms may include case type, examiner's name, appellant or applicant name, case number, originating agency, or other topical keywords.

Search Tips
Using keywords to search by topic/isssue: Issues and topics can often be identified by several possible words or phrases. For example, when searching for drainage-related cases, the words "drainage," "surface water," "run-off," and "detention" could be used.

Refining your search: Several options are listed at the bottom of the left frame for refining your search. Be sure to review these prior to submitting your search in order to further ensure the most appopriate search results.

Search Results
The left frame of the completed search screen will provide a list of case documents that met your search criteria along with a brief description of each. A weighting system will prioritize the cases found, based upon where the search words are located and the number of times they are used in the reports (hits). Please keep in mind that every additional word or descriptor which you enter into your query will modify the results of your search, based on the "Search criteria selected".

Viewing documents. To view the report in its original Word format, click on the hyperlink following "Location".

Printing documents. To print documents in HTML format, click with your mouse on the document name (in the left screen frame) then click the Print button (printer icon) on the toolbar above the page.  To print in the original Word format, click the "Location:" hyperlink, click Open in the File Download dialog box, then click the Print button (printer icon) on the toolbar above the page.  Alternatively, you can click "Location :" hyperlink, click Save to save the document to a location on your computer.  Then you may print from the local file location.  (Note: This may not work consistently on all machines.)

To print both the selected document and search results, simply click your print icon at the top of the screen.
